SI of WA – Friendship Day
Soroptimists throughout the world hold a day of Friendship on 3rd October each year. It is a day to celebrate the friendship we all share together through our Soroptimist membership. Metropolitan clubs within the Western Australian Region combine together annually on this day and enjoy our mutual friendships.
This year 2010 was no different. On Sunday 3rd October members from a number of our metropolitan clubs gathered in Kings Park, Saw Avenue parkland at lunchtime and spent a delightful few hours picnicking together. An easy ‘bring your own food, drinks, chair and blanket’ affair.
Members shared their fare, indulged in good conversation and laughter and soaked up the beautiful spring sunshine. Region President Berenice read a message of friendship from Chris Knight, South West Pacific Federation Ambassador for our Project SIerra. In our usual good humoured fashion a small gold coin collection was then taken up to add to the work being done on our international project in Sierra Leone.
We then cheerfully wended our way homewards feeling refreshed and enlivened by the good company and friendship. Feeling glad that we are actively engaged in helping our communities and at the same time have the pleasure of association with warm, generous women.
